Interview with 4 + 1's Captain, Anno|Domini

A quiet achiever dating back to the WCG ACT DOTA tournaments, Anno|Domini makes his grand return to the competitive DOTA scene in Canberra.

Backed by any excellent manager in George, Anno|Domini now has a new team under his leadership and looks to put some mileage as they prepare for the tournament in 2 weeks.

We ask this humble man some questions and he gives his thoughts on them.

Hey Anno|Domini, mind introducing yourself to the Canberra DOTA2 scene?
Hey, I'm a casual Dota2 player who likes watching SingSing stream on Twitch. I use to play Dota competitively for a while then I played it casually.

Andrew, the seasoned DOTA 2 player

Are you able to introduce your team mates as well and their roles in the team?
Gregbui, _WearingPants and I are our (1) (2) (3) and that leaves Miku and AzChuah our (4) & (5). We also have George, a volunteer manager encouraging us to participate.

You’ve just lost your 5th due to other commitments and were able to replace him with _WearingPants.  Have you had much chance to practice with this new lineup?
It takes time to see the way someone plays and figure out how to best utilise their skills for the team. It's great that _WearingPants can fill a position in our team on such short notice and we're glad to have him work together with us. We're a bit rusty and we probably need the practice at the moment.

How long have you played together with your current team?
Honestly not too long, we're just a bunch of Dota2 fans who love playing and watching the game.

4 + 1's love for DOTA 2 is well shown
What would you like to achieve from participating from this tournament?
I think we're probably going to be lucky to win one game. We're just happy to be able to participate in this Dota2 tournament.

You’ve talked about entering this comp and just having fun, is there a realistic placement of where you see your team coming?
I think if we were playing it down to 16th place teams, I think top 12 would be great. We'll be somewhere near the bottom.

This isn’t your first time playing DOTA competitively as we did see you in previous years with another team who went on to qualify in the finals.  Since then, how have things changed in DOTA and the local scene?
Dota2 is gaining quite a lot of attention and people are willing to put in the hours to learn how to play the game. It's great to see such a large community and growing. And it seems locally people have made the switch from Dota to Dota2

Back to our own local scene, is there any teams that you’re familiar with and respect?
I know Vergil7, so I'm hoping his team will do well. Ada.L is quite recognisable in the dota community, hoping they'll do well too. Whos_house has been to a couple of Dota tournaments and he was really competitive back in Dota so hopefully the late rego won't effect them.

Will we see you in future Canberra DOTA2 tournaments?
Yeah would love to be in future tournaments in Canberra. It's fantastic to see e-Sports continue to grow especially in Australia!

Anno|Domini, thank you for your time, is there anything further that you’d like to add?
Shout out to George getting us to enter this comp. Shout out to Barracks, Sky Internet, Thermaltake, Redskins who have made this event possible. Last but not least thanks to Fredison Vu for organising this event amongst his work, practising for this event and raising a little baby girl. Kudos to you!
