Interview with 4FM's captain, Sonogong

We thought that one team from interstate was quite impressive, but then another had to sign up and here we are with our 2nd interstate team, 4FM.  Maybe it's the impression that Canberra is easy pickings or maybe it's the love of the game which has brought 4FM to this tournament. Maybe it's the adult industry or tourist attractions in Canberra that drive these young men to this capital city.

Nevertheless we got the chance to ask 4FM's captain (thanks to constant reminders on FB from MPJ #bromance) who will also be making the trip down along with Omega Squadron.

Let me start by thanking you for doing this interview. First let's take this back to where you started out; rewind back, how did you and the other members meet and decide to enter this tournament? Did you have any idea that you had what it takes to get where you are now?
I met MPJ & Mig online and we went to a couple of LAN competitions together, Ursa is a close school mate and juice is just some random guy that plays chess. I found this competition online on CyberGamer and since Mig is from Canberra and he came to Sydney for a competition here we decided to form a team and compete in Canberra.

The best team photo with an oversized Miguel.

So let’s fast forward to the day of the tournament, do you foresee any teams giving you trouble?  Or do you think that this will be a walk in the park?
It’s going to be a run in the park because all teams will give us trouble because we never play as 5 not even pub because of work, Uni etc…  So if they practice they will have an advantage over us already.

Recently I did an interview with Omega Squadron’s captain, YaDig, who recognised your name and gave you props.  What’s it like to be recognised by other peers who respect you?
I think I’m the only he recognises because I've played a few times vs. Omega, I know they’re travelling from Sydney like a couple of my teammates so hopefully one of us can win for Sydney :D

Is it true that MPJ and you are the force of 4FM?
No! It’s a team game everyone must perform to win and MPJ is the biggest thrower on the team by far.

4FM is all about the nizzle

Okay tell me your thoughts on the current DOTA2 scene and particularly the Australian DOTA2 scene, would you agree we’re not really represented well internationally?
Australia is one of the only servers with nobody to go to TI4 but casters and the Australian e-sports scene I believe is very weak compared to the rest of the world so players don’t have any opportunity to showcase themselves or be committed.  Also I played a pub game with FNATIC H4nn1 I believe he wasn't too impressed with it.

Do you have a personal favourite hero? Is there possibly a hero you wish could find its way into the game?  Any hero you wish would just vanish into some kind of abyss so you don't have to deal with it anymore? OH, and obligatorily, opinions on the new hero Techies?
I don’t have a favourite hero but MPJ played 999 games of OD so I guess that’s his favourite and I hate going up against lycan in all pick in pub not fun L, I think Techies will destroy ranked games because most of them will just troll in Australian ranked games.

What is your current role on your team?
A core hero

Tell us about your other team mates and their roles on the team.
Mig, MPJ and I will probably be playing cores (1)(2)(3)
Ursa & Juice (4)(5)

Where are they all from?
Mig – Canberra and the rest of us Sydney

Thank you for the interview! Any shout-outs and thanks?
Shout-out to BP, Mungo and Omega and also Shout-out to Kphoenix before he goes to TI5 or TI6, whose stolen about 200 of my MMR from his naga (Highest MMR SEA ladder, Aus player).

Sonogong? More like Snoop Doggy Doge
