Redskins Sportswear, without a doubt, is one of the biggest sportswear companies in Melbourne. They currently supply sportswear and fashionable street clothing. We were fortunate enough to be sponsored by this company as the 3rd prize, and got the chance to ask Owner/Manager Mike Juaneza some questions.
Thank you Mike for doing this interview, can you please tell us a bit about Redskins Sportswear and how it came to be?
Redskins Sportswear started off as a hobby, I loved creating new designs and bringing to life with my Sunday Basketball team. As we came up with more and more slick designs, other teams started to take notice and asked if they could acquire the same type of uniforms in their custom designs. Fast forward a year later it is the #1 customized sportswear company nationwide, delivering top quality custom uniforms with state of the art printing technologies, innovative materials at competitive prices. The quickest turnaround time as well. A company built on customer service currently growing rapidly and is a frontrunner in apparel design and production.
What was Redskins Sportswear’s first product?
My Sunday basketball team’s first ever uniform. Started off as a hobby and now its full-fledged business.
When did you decide to branch out from the sportswear range?
Being a sneakerhead, I always found it hard to look for apparel to match with my kicks. So I started to create Street by Redskins. Now in its re-launching phase, it not only targets sneakerheads but also streetwear enthusiasts.
Do you know much about the e-sports scene, more particular DOTA2 in Australia and worldwide?
Not really to be honest, heard it, seen it and exposed to it but never did I know that DOTA2 would be so big around the world.
Do you game much at all and if so, how often?
I’m the biggest Fifa fanatic. The only game I play consistently.
We know you work hard with your business, is it important to balance work, life, and have some down time such as gaming or playing sports/working out?
It is really important in a sense, being that balance of stress from work and to some extent stress from gaming to letting it all out playing sport or at the gym.
We also notice that you’re quite active on Facebook and Instagram with your shoe collection, is it an obsession or just part of a collection?
The thrill and achievement of acquiring the perfect shot of your sneakers is turning out to be an obsession. Although I would like to think it’s a collection its now become a part of my life!
What future plans do you have with Redskins Sportswear?
We will be looking at expanding the business not just nationally but also international. With celebrity endorsers and the re-launch of Street by Redskins around the corner makes for exciting times.
